In January, we invited Dean Trune to speak at Southeast Christian Church. He challenged the congregation to each pray for 7 people in 2017 that would either find Jesus for the first time or come back to him.
You can read more about this challenge by clicking here.
I wanted to share with you something that Dean sent to me:
The key to you and I helping people find Jesus or find their way back to Him is prayer. Please pray regularly for you to see what God wants you to see. My prayer has been something like, "God please lead me to the people of your choice to help them connect or reconnect with you this year." His list of people may be very different from your list of people. He will surprise us. We need to let Him select the people of His choosing and then follow Him wherever He leads.
For instance, I led a seminar at a church in the Midwest about 10 years ago. A lady in a church signed up for our newsletter. I have probably heard from her a total of 4 times in 10 years. Toward the end of 2016, she informed me that she had not prayed or been in church since her mother died 3 years old. She is angry with God. I now believe this lady is on God's list for me to encourage her to reconnect with Him this year.
I am really hoping that some of my neighbors are on God's list. Bonnie and I have lived in our neighborhood in Phoenix since moving from Michigan 20 months ago. We love our neighbors, but very few of them know Jesus personally.
So I want to encourage you to pray, watch what God does, and follow Him in obedience.
Wow! God is good and he is faithful. He will lead us to those people who need him. If you would like to join us in the 7-in-2017 challenge, fill in the form below and we will add you tot he list. This is a year of transformation. I can't think of a better transformation happening then someone surrendering their life to Jesus for the first time or coming back to Him after they have been away for a season.
You need to know that I am praying for you and the 7-in2017 challenge. Please share your stories. I can't wait for the end of the year to look back and see what God has done!
